Next shot will be in 2 weeks

The next thing I plan on shooting is the Walton Lighthouse here in Santa Cruz (the one by the harbor). I'm waiting for the next full moon so I can get the effect I want. I just hope it doesn't rain on me.

I may also want to start getting some regular daytime photography in, but I'm still searching for a good subject. I'm thinking of a series on the Wackos of Downtown Santa Cruz, but that could wait until I get my 20D.

Shoot me any ideas if you've got them.

The first print is in

I just recieved my first print from the slides I took last week and it looks great. It's an 11x16 of the Best of the Bunch, aka "Wharf 13," and there is very little grain. I'd like to start selling some of the photos, but I need to figure out prices, sizes and how I'll get paid for them. I'll probably have to set up a different site for all this, so I'll keep you posted on what the address is.

Cruzhenge

Santa Cruz has a lot of public art all over the place. This sculpture always interested me, even though I have no idea what it is. Maybe I should research stuff like that before I take the picture.

Misty Valley

This was my final view of Yosemite Valley during my trip in November. It had just started raining that morning. I whis the waterfalls were more full (Here you can barely see Bridalviel Fall on the right), but that's what I get for going in November.

During a clear day, Half Dome would be right in the center of the frame.

Hello to you

Does anyone use Hello to send photos? If you do, go ahead and add me to your friends (username: crayolaboy). I'd like to see how well this works.

Vernal Fell

A look at Vernal Fall from way off the Mist Trail. There's not a lot of water since it was taken in November, but I got a long enough exposure to make it look more full.

The camera is a little point and shoot digital that I balanced on a rock and set the timer to prevent camera shake. I wish the highlights at the top of the image weren't blown out.

Neptune's Kingdom

This is an old one I took down at the Boardwalk. It's been my wallpaper for a few months now.

The Long Shot

This is a 10-minute exposure. I was up on the Wharf, look east at the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk. The full moon is just out of the frame, but at 10-minutes, it would have looked like an oval. You can already see long star trails and a plane going through the sky. Also, since it was only 7pm, cars were still driving on the wharf, and they shook the camera. I'm surprised it is as sharp as it is.

Cowell Beach at Sunset

A little under-exposed at the bottom, but overall, a pretty good shot. I really like the surfers in the shot more than anything else.

Best of the bunch

Of the first roll I took, I like this picture the best. This is the one I'll probably print and hang in my house.

I'm finally taking pictures again

Thanks to my mother, I'm out with the camera again and shooting away. She lent me her Nikon 6006 film camera and this is the first photo taken with it.

I got to the wharf around 5:15pm on Thursday and set up just west of the Santa Cruz Municipal Wharf on Cowell Beach. The goal was to do some night photography, but I couldn't resist a sunset shot.

I just set up this blog, so hopefully, as I take more photos, I'll post them here for everyone to see. Looks like you can even comment on them by using the comments link below. Also, if anyone happens to want prints, I can make that happen. Just e-mail me and let me know.

More to come soon.
