Every year someone on the softball team surprises us and this year it was Dania, who blooped this double just over the shortstop's head.

Jim's Power Swing

It's summer and that means our newspaper gathers some of its finest scrubs and plays softball as Bad News. In the past, the team has been less than stellar but this year, the first game was a blow-out thanks in part to sports writer Jim Seimas' 2 RBI single.

A new favorite

Coming Into Port
Originally uploaded by Anthony L. Solis.

Julie saw this barge going under the Golden Gate Bridge and asked me to take some pictures of it. At the time, I knew they'd come out pretty well, but I had no idea how much I would like them. The tones on the barge bring a smile to my face and the lack of contrast on the skyline make it seem dreamlike.

Thanks for pointing the shot out to me Julie.

Playing Tourist

Playing Tourist

I've lived in the South Bay my entire life and I have never walked across the Golden Gate Bridge. So, Julie and I stopped on our way home from Petaluma to make the trek. After the hike we did the day before, my legs were tired, but my fear of hights motivated me to high-tail it across as fast as I could. However, there's always time for a photo.

I like this photo a lot, but I had not liked the processing I did. I think I finally got it right with this one.

This is below Arch Rock at the end of the Bear Valley Trail at Point Reyes National Seashore. You have to climb down these waterfalls at low tide to get to the beach

The glass of my lens and the hazy day made this photo seem to appear painted.

This is the view from the lighthouse looking north east back to the mainland. I've seen this photo all over the place, it's just one of those photos that everyone takes, so here's my version.

Since Julie and I we a little slow moving after our hike all day, we were the last ones to leave the lighthouse, so I was able to turn around and get a number of shots with no visitors in them. Just goes to show you that it pays to be slightly injured.

Hiking at Point Reyes

The Fog House

Julie and I spent the weekend walking around Point Reyes, Petaluma and San Francisco. We started out at about 9am, Saturday, hiking the Bear Valley Trail at Point Reyes. It's 4.1 miles to the seashore from the visitor's center and a pretty flat hike. After we did that and back, we drove north to visit the Point Reyes Lighthouse, which is at the bottom of 308 stairs. Not easy after 8.2 miles and a few sore knees.

This is the fog house just below the lighthouse on the western-most point of the park.

Clown and her Foal

Clown and her Foal
Originally uploaded by Anthony L. Solis.

The horse Clown gave birth to a foal three days before I took these pictures. The foal's name is Clown's Charisma, which is a little silly, but we'll call her CC for short. Clown is a horse that my girlfriend rides on occasion. (Clown is named so because of her paint and the fact that she has two different colored eyes.)

We were pretty amazed at how friendly CC already was. Clown seemed OK with us in close proximity to CC, but grew tired of all the attention and retreated back to the barn.
